NewWave Behavioral Consultation Services relies on the science of Applied Behavior Analysis in connection with client-centered principles to produce definable and socially significant outcomes. Challenging behaviors often occur because these very behaviors are knowingly or unknowingly being reinforced in the environment - by either gaining something positive or escaping from something negative.  We focus on the context and function of the problem behavior in the environment. Identifying  the function of the behavior(s) of concern is key to developing our plan to address the unwanted behaviors and efficiently promoting desired behavior.  The plans may include altering environments and teaching new skills.

Our strategy in helping our clients may include:

1. Interview individual and team members to identify concerns & desired outcomes.

2. Observing clients in their environments.

3. Develop data collection methods to identify the antecedent, behavior, and relevant consequence.

4. Develop a support plan detailing prevention, teaching, & reactive strategies.

5. Train team members to collect data and implement interventions.

6. Evaluate activities conducted by team members.

7. When applicable, use ACT and related techniques.
